Cirque du Soleil’s “Saltimbanco” arena tour will appear in Nashville April 9-12 at the Sommet Center.

“Saltimbanco” is a signature Cirque du Soleil show with a style that borrows from theater, dance and music incorporating spectacular costumes, lighting and make-up for a singular experience in exotic intrigue.

Highlights include “Adagio,” a gymnastic demonstration of strength, flexibility and balance; “Russian Swing,” in which a family of baroque characters are catapulted 30 feet in the air; and “Bungees,” an aerial ballet that transforms four of the performers into gravity-defying dancers.

The cast features 50 high-caliber artists from 20 countries. They will amaze audiences with their acrobatic skills against a backdrop of color and fun.

Since its world premiere in 1992, “Saltimbanco” has toured the world and thrilled more than 10 million people on five continents. For 14 years, the show performed in the trademark Cirque du Soleil big top. In 2007, “Saltimbanco” embarked on a new arena tour across Canada and the United States. This model allows Cirque du Soleil to bring its shows to new cities, giving more people than ever the opportunity to enjoy a Cirque du Soleil show in their own town.
