Lipscomb outlasts Lady Bruins 74-68 in OT

Thirty points by senior guard Amber Rockwell wasn’t enough for the Lady Bruins as Belmont fell to Lipscomb in overtime 70-65 at Allen Arena.

Down 56-50 with 3:28 left in the game, the Lady Bruins mounted a quick comeback to force the game into overtime. Belmont guards Amber Rockwell and Shaunda Strayhorn combined for nine points—including a driving Rockwell lay-up with 13.4 seconds left—to bring the Bruins back.

In overtime, Lipscomb got off to a hot start. A three-pointer by junior Jenna Bartsokas and a shot by sophomore Brittany Duerk gave the Lady Bisons a 64-59 lead. But once again, Belmont charged back.

Four points by BU forward Haley Nelson and a pair of free throws by Rockwell evened the score again at 65.

Lipscomb answered with a short jumper and hit key free throws down the stretch to put away the Lady Bruins, 74-68.

Bartsokas finished with 27 points for the Lady Bisons.
