Neighbors association urges nondiscrimination

A group of Belmont’s neighbors is asking the board of trustees to “do the right thing.”

The right thing, in a letter from Belmont Hillsboro Neighbors Inc. to the board Wednesday, is “to take a stand … by adopting a broad nondiscrimination policy.”

The letter is posted on the group’s website under the headline “BHN takes a stand for Equality.” It is addressed to Belmont’s board of trustees and notes that several copies were sent to others, including Belmont’s president, Dr. Bob Fisher; Metro councilperson for District 18, Kristine LaLonde, who is also a Belmont faculty member; and Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
