“A poor job of COMMUNICATING.”
Yeah, it was the communication that everyone is taking issue with.
“A safe and welcoming place for all…” unless you happen to be Lisa Howe. The GLBT students are fine though because they’re paying Belmont, not on payroll.
“In the ten years I have served as Belmont’s president, sexual orientation has not been considered in making hiring, promotion, salary, or dismissal decisions.”
Outright lie. At least one potential professor in the English department had a tenure offer retracted after disclosing their orientation and (how pathetic he thinks we’ve already forgotten) Lisa How, who was just forced to resign due to her ‘outing.’
Oh, Bobby, if all sin is equal in the eyes of the Lord, the liars and the gays will be punished together.
Does he think this empty message and cheesy story are going to quiet us? I eagerly await a statement with some substance and accountability. This dancing around the subject is ridiculous.
Someone in the administration needs to grow a pair and stand up to the few trustees who are standing in the way of inevitable progress.
I think the eye roll at 3:35 says more than the entire statement.
@Mary:
Great catch of the micro-expression.
