Belmont University named No. 6 on U.S. News & World regional college ranking

Belmont University was selected as No. 6 on the U.S. News & World annual rankings of the Top 10 best colleges in the Regional Universities South category, following just behind Stetson University in Florida.

This marks Belmont’s eighth consecutive year maintaining a Top 10 regional ranking and continues Belmont’s reign as the highest ranked university in Tennessee in this category.

This list also applauds Belmont’s ninth year in a row “making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities,” earning Belmont No. 2 on the Most Innovative Colleges in the South list.

The list doesn’t end here.

Belmont was also ranked No. 2 in the South for Strong Commitment to Undergraduate Teaching, No. 6 in the South for Best Colleges for Veterans. U.S. News & World also recognized Belmont for its Internships/Co-ops, Learning Communities and Service Learning Programs.

“This is great news. I’m so privileged to be associated with faculty and staff who give their best every day to create extraordinary learning experiences for their students,” said Belmont President Bob Fisher in a press release about the ranking. “The categories where we have been recognized are a direct result of our goal to be student-centered, and these areas are central to providing an education that equips our students for lives and careers filled with meaning and purpose.”

These rankings place Belmont in a premier position among the 139 public and private institutions in the South, an area covering Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi and Louisiana.

For the second year, Belmont neighbor Vanderbilt University was ranked No. 15 on the Best National Universities list.
