Battle of the Boulevard Double-Header

The Battle of the Boulevard raged on the campus of Belmont University as the men’s and women’s basketball teams fought to win against Lipscomb.

The double-header started with the women’s basketball teams squaring off to decide who would carry the trophy home.

The Belmont Bruins were able to defeat the Bisons 100-62– never trailing– and were able to break the 100-point mark early in the game.

Belmont ended with 16 3-pointers. Darby Maggard lead her team with 18 points, followed by Sierra Jones with 16 points. Lipscomb redshirt senior Alex Banks led her team with 18 points and seven rebounds.

With the women’s basketball team leaving the court with a win, it set the stage for the men to fight out the Battle of the Boulevard.

In the second game of the evening, the Bruins emerged victorious with a 64-62 game. Belmont had a rocky start to the game and trailed Lipscomb for the entire first half of the game,

Belmont came out into the second half-energized and struggled to come into the lead. With only four and a half minutes left in the second half, Belmont pulled ahead, 55-54.

Tension was high in the arena as the Bisons fought hard to regain the lead, and with only 2 seconds left in the game Rob Marberry tied the game 62-62. With a layup and no time to spare, Dylan Windler scored and earned the Bruins the win.

Belmont ended with six 3-pointers. Evan Bradds led the team with 24 points and nine rebounds, followed by Austin Luke with 13 points. Lipscomb sophomore Rob Marberry led his team with 24 points and seven rebounds.
