Belmont senior finishes 20th at NCAA Outdoor Championships

After a record-breaking performance at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship in May, Belmont senior Caleb Corprew finished out his collegiate career with a 20th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles semifinal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Corprew is the first member of the Belmont men’s track and field team to race in the NCAA Championships.

After making a name for himself as the two-time Ohio Valley Conference champion in the 400-meter hurdles, Corprew qualified for the NCAA Championships at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships.

He broke his own school record by 0.68 seconds, with a time of 50.50 seconds.

Corprew finished his collegiate career by running a 52.80 in the semifinal at the University of Oregon on Wednesday. To qualify for the final, he would have needed a time of 50.49 or better.

Corprew received an honorable mention All-America honors for his performance Wednesday night,

He leaves Belmont after one of the most successful track careers in school history, which included three OVC titles and six school records which he set or tied.
