Parking garage dust sets off JAAC alarms

Many classes were just getting started in the Janet Ayers Academic Center when students and faculty started hearing the fire alarms go off at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Initial reports show the alarms started after some dust triggered one alarm on P1 of the parking garage, said Director of Communications Greg Pillon.

This then set off all the other alarms in the building, and the JAAC was evacuated.

“There was no sign of danger in the building, and the all clear to re-occupy the building occurred at 11:18 a.m.,” Pillon said.
