The 2019 Country Showcase filled the Curb Event Center with a night of lively performances and storytelling.

Country Showcase 2019

First to take the stage was country duo Tigirlily, who started the night off with a high-energy performance. The two women kept the crowd engaged with dazzling dance moves and confidence. The performance’s highlight included the two sisters playing a set of drums while the audience clapped and cheered along.

Tigirlily ended its set with a stellar cover of Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee,” with powerful vocals that wowed the crowd.

A low point of the night had to be the inconsistent audio quality that made vocals hard to hear and some performances sound lackluster compared to others.

Alyssa Newton took the stage next, immediately drawing the audience in with her charisma and talent. Newton kept a conversational tone throughout her performance that commanded attention and made the audience feel like they were listening to a story unfold on stage.

Newton played a cover of The Dixie Chicks’ “Cowboy Take Me Away” that had the crowd singing and swaying along.

Ashley Cooke then took the stage, bringing a high-energy and personality-filled performance that would make her the winner of the night. Cooke had the audience clapping along and dancing throughout her set as she showed off some impressive vocals.

Cooke’s set ended with a cover of “The Middle” by Zedd that had audience members waving their arms to the beat and dancing along.

To close out the night, Patrick Murphy started his performance a little differently than the other artists. Sitting down at a piano to play his first song, it was clear Murphy was confident and ready to play a spectacular set.

Murphy closed his set with a dynamic cover of Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You” that included some impressive guitar playing and brought a lighthearted vibe to the stage.

Although Cooke took home the win, every artist put on a strong and captivating performance.
