Dean Patrick Raines from the Jack C. Massey College of Business retires

Dean Patrick Raines of the Jack C. Massey College of Business will be retiring at the end of July, said Dr. Thomas Burns in an email on Thursday.

After 16 years at Belmont, Dean Raines leaves the school of business a very different school than it was over a decade ago, with undergraduate enrollment increased by 100%, graduate enrollment increased by 80% and national recognition earned from Princeton Review and BusinessWeek.

Additionally, the school of business was able to maintain its business and accounting accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business during Dean Raines’ time at Belmont.

In his email, Dr. Burns expressed his gratitude and admiration for the departing Dean.

“Ever an approachable, positive, and supportive champion for our students, our faculty and our university, Dean Raines’ work has also led to the development of student-run businesses, increased scholarship funds for students and faculty and the establishment of three centers of excellence, as well as the Massey Financial Information Center,” Burns said.

A reception for Dean Raines will take place on July 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Massey Boardroom.
