Belmont men’s basketball unveils non-conference schedule

The Belmont men’s basketball team officially released its non-conference schedule for the 2020-2021 season.

The Bruins plan to begin the season with a stretch of four away games, beginning on Thanksgiving Day. The team returns to the Curb Event Center for its home opener Dec. 5.

The 2020-2021 Belmont men’s basketball non-conference schedule is scheduled as follows:

* Nov. 26 – Belmont v. Howard (Paradise Jam)

* Nov. 27 – Belmont v. George Mason (Paradise Jam)

* Nov. 28 – Belmont v. Northeastern (Paradise Jam)

* Dec. 2 – Belmont at Tennessee State

* Dec. 5 – Samford at Belmont

* Dec. 8 – Tennessee State at Belmont

* Dec. 12 – Belmont at Lipscomb

* Dec. 16 – Kennesaw State at Belmont

* Dec. 21 – Belmont at Evansville

For the first three games, the Bruins will make their case in the Paradise Jam held in Washington, D.C. Originally, the Bruins had plans to take part in a high-profile tournament in Orlando to take on power-five schools like Michigan State University.

Although Coach Casey Alexander and his team were thrilled to begin the season with such a high-caliber tournament, they are happy to finally have a solid schedule that promises basketball games.

“Now we just want to play games,” said Alexander to Robby and Rexrode on 102.5 The Game. “We just want to get our guys out on the floor and just play games.”

Following the home opener, the Bruins alternate home and away games until the last non-conference matchup at the Ford Center against the Evansville Aces.

Due to the unpredictability of the coronavirus, the Ohio Valley Conference added “Flex” games for each team to weave into their non-conference schedules. The Bruins have scheduled Tennessee State University, a conference opponent, twice into its non-conference schedules to accommodate this policy.

Despite the uncertainty a season among COVID-19 can bring, Alexander is excited to start the season.

“Our team is very interesting this year, I like our team a lot,” said Alexander to Robby and Rexrode. “Our expectations are high and we’re ready to get going.”
