After seven straight losses to start the season, Belmont baseball finally got its first win of the season down the boulevard against Lipscomb University 14-9.

It did not take long for some Bruins to get to home plate. In the first inning, first baseman Landon Godsey singled, batting in Pete Daniel and right fielder Ty Allen, taking a 2-0 lead.

Lipscomb responded in the bottom of the first taking the 3-2 lead with two runners batted in and a runner scoring on a wild pitch by Cade Granzow

The second inning saw a Ty Allen single bring home two more Bruins to take the 4-3 lead.

The Bruins were not done scoring in the inning. Godsey got his first home run of the season, scoring two more runs to make it a 6-3 ballgame.

Belmont did not let up in the third inning as they scored three more runs, extending the lead to six.

In the next two innings, Lipscomb bounced back to score three runs to make it 9-6.

Belmont then went berserk in the sixth inning, scoring six runs.

Third baseman Kaden Galason scored the last run of the inning, stealing home on a wild pitch.

Lipscomb scored one run in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh, making the game 13-8.

Then in the top of the ninth, Allen made a statement with a home run, scoring the Bruins’ last run of the game.

Lipscomb scored one final run in the bottom of the ninth before recording its final two outs.

"We just needed to focus on what we were trying to accomplish. We didn't need to get too focused on the winning and the losing aspects of this…our pitchers did a better job of executing strikes. We put together more quality at-bats throughout the course of the ball game," said head coach Dave Jarvis. "Just a good competition against a good quality opponent here tonight, and it's good to walk away with the win."

Allen had a career-high four hits, five RBIs and three runs. The right fielder also scored his third home run of the season.

“It's really easy when you have great coaches. So I mean, I learned from Stein and Will and Jarvis, just the approach, just to hit the fastball early,” said Allen.

The Bruins finally get to add the one to their 1-7 record, and the Bisons drop to 2-6.

Notre Dame is coming to town this weekend from the Athletic Coast Conference for a Belmont home series at E.S Rose Park.
