It’s no April Fool’s Day joke – blasting at Belmont University has started again for the first time this year.
Starting Monday, construction workers began four-times-a-day blasting for the new dining hall and academic building next to Kennedy Hall. Blasts are planned to occur every weekday for the rest of the semester at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. While the number of actual blasts may be less for the next couple of weeks, the work is expected to be continued in full throughout the summer. Horns will be sounded three times and construction workers will stop traffic near the site, as with previous construction projects.
If all goes as expected, the work is expected to be complete by September. The building is slated to open by fall 2015.
