After sophomores Malik Dia and Ja'Kobi Gillespie announced they would enter the transfer portal, Belmont fans were wondering if sophomore forward Cade Tyson would follow.
On Monday, they finally got their answer when Tyson entered the transfer portal, Jamie Shaw of On3 Sports announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Tyson has yet to release a statement of his own.
After a stellar freshman season that saw him win Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, Tyson continued to terrorize opposing defenses.
He averaged 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and shot 46.5% from the 3-point line, one of the best percentages in the country, while gaining All-MVC Second Team honors.
With all three sophomores transferring plus senior guard Keishawn Davidson and graduate forward Jayce Willingham graduating, the Bruins return no starters from the 2023-24 season and have lost 86% of their scoring.
Now, head coach Casey Alexander must dive into the transfer portal and find players he feels can lead the Bruins to another 20-win season.
