Among the organized chaos of move-in at Belmont, campus security received a report on Monday morning that a car had been broken into in the Curb Garage on Sunday night.
After further investigation, Campus Security discovered five cars had been broken into, it said in an email Monday afternoon.
All five cars either had windows down or unlocked doors, allowing for easy access into the vehicles, the email said.
With other universities also moving in students during this time, Campus Security said it is urging students to not leave any valuables in their cars and ensure that they have locked their doors and windows rolled up to prevent any further incidents.
This story will be updated as more information develops.
