False bomb threat an attempt to avoid exams

Police arrested a suspect in connection with the Tuesday afternoon bomb threats.

Carson Dunn, a 19 year-old Belmont student, confessed to making up the story during an interview with the police shortly after the evacuation began.

Dunn informed Belmont security shortly before 12:30 on Tuesday that he had overheard a man plotting to “blow up the girls’ dorm and the music building” on campus.

While being interviewed, Dunn revealed that he had fabricated the bomb threat as an attempt to avoid finals.

Dunn was charged with the federal crime of filing a false claim.

He is being held on $2,000 bond.
