Freshman dorm Hail Hall will not be housing students during the 2025-2026 school year due to scheduled maintenance.
Hail houses around 80 students and is one of four co-ed freshman dorms on campus.
It was built in 1923, making it one of Belmont’s oldest historical buildings.
The main focus of the maintenance will be to address the building's chiller system before it might become a problem, said Robert Chavez, assistant vice president for facilities management services.
Hail’s residential spaces are anticipated to reopen in time for the 2026-2027 school year.
“This is a scheduled, temporary closure to allow for preventative maintenance of aging equipment,” said Cady Tice, interim director of residence life.
The academic portion of Hail will remain fully operational throughout this maintenance period, said Tice.
There will not be a shortage of freshman housing due to its temporary closure either.
The opening of Wiseman Hall at the beginning of the fall 2025 semester will close the gap in housing options by adding over 400 freshman spaces.
