Ben Vaughn, a Belmont University Board of Trustee member and president-CEO of Warner Chappell Nashville, died on Thursday at the age of 49.
His cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
He was a Belmont Class of 2000 alumnus; Vaughn was also the chair of the Curb College Advisory Board.
His son enrolled at Belmont in the fall of 2024.
“Ben was a critical figure in my own journey to Belmont, and I have witnessed and learned about the investment he made in mentoring countless Belmont students and alumni with dreams of working in the music business,” said Brittany Schaffer, dean of Curb College.
Vaughn was accomplished within the music industry, earning several accolades, including being named Billboard's 2020 Nashville executive of the Year, one of Country Aircheck’s Power 31 and being awarded Belmont University’s Milestone Award.
He also supported big-name country acts Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay, Midland and Riley Green on their journeys to earning major label deals.
“Belmont, Nashville and the broader music industry have lost a great friend – he will be truly missed,’ said Belmont President Greg Jones in an email to Belmont’s student body.
