Belmont men’s basketball defeated the Missouri State Bears 85-68 Saturday night.

Junior guard Tyler Lundblade shot exclusively from behind the three-point line and made nine of his 15 attempts, finishing with a career-high 27 points. His nine 3-point field goals tie him for third on the Bruins’ all-time single-game leaderboard.

“Coming off the game at Bradley, you sure think everything’s going in when you touch it,” Lundblade said after the game.

Lundblade has 52 points over his last two games and has shot 57 percent from three in that span.

Carter Whitt set a record of his own; his career-high 15 assists are the most from any player in a game at the Curb Event Center and tied him for second on the Bruins’ all-time single-game leaderboard.

Isaiah Walker was also a key offensive contributor. He scored 18 points while shooting 67 percent from the field and 100 percent from three.

The entire Belmont team shot well, finishing 58.6 percent from the field and 59.3 percent from three.

Missouri State’s Jalen Hampton led the Bears with 20 points and made all nine of his field goal attempts.

Despite underwhelming scoring nights from Carter Whitt and Johnathan Pierre, who had three and two points, Belmont’s season-high 30 assists kept the offense afloat.

The Bruin’s much improved second half defense allowed them to pull away for a 17-point victory.

Belmont will travel to Valparaiso Wednesday as they try to improve their standing in the Missouri Valley Conference.
