Belmont’s School of Music is getting ready for the 19th annual Commercial Music Showcase scheduled for 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 7. This free, one-hour event will be in the Massey Concert Hall and will feature music arrangers, background vocalists, commercial instrumentalists, and four junior and senior commercial music soloists who represent the best that the School of Music has to offer.
Recording artists and other industry professionals chose these four students through an audition process in September. Auditions for the showcase begin with 40-50 students trying out for the spots. Ten are called back, and then the four final soloists are decided upon.
This year’s performers are Piper Jones, junior; Camaryn Rogers, senior; Chase Foster, junior; and Nicole Staley, senior.
This showcase, put on by the School of Music, will cover a wide variety of contemporary music styles. The free concert is not a convo event, but music business students can snag that MBU credit.
