Belmont’s Student Government Association confirmed sophomore Sierra Byrd as the new Chief of Staff on Friday.

Byrd first ran as a freshman senator in 2023 and during her time has been involved in event planning and the constitutional committee.

Senators present at SGA’s Feb. 14 meeting voted unanimously on her appointment.

“My experience in SGA has been the best experience I have had at Belmont. I am extremely excited to embark on this journey as Chief of Staff and continue serving students,” said Byrd.

Elena Amonette previously held the position but stepped down this semester due to scheduling conflicts.

I am happy to hear that Sierra was selected as the new Chief of Staff, and I know that she will do a fantastic job. I am so thankful for the time that I spent on SGA and am excited to see what they continue to do in the next several years,” said Amonette.

Current SGA members are ready to see Byrd lead in her new position.

“I feel like this position could not go to a more well-deserved person. Sierra has done so much work during her time in SGA,” said events committee chair Sara Frautschi. “I’m so excited to see her take on this new leadership role.”

Byrd and Frautschi will lead operations for SGA’s homecoming events coming on Feb. 21 and 22.

SGA will host a “Crumbl and Concerns” panel on Feb. 24 in the Janet Ayers Academic Center.
