The Timeout with Ty: How Bad Can it Get?

Last week, I said Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis needed to have a good game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday after lackluster performances in weeks one and two.

The pressure grew when the Packers made it official that star quarterback Jordan Love wouldn’t be starting, giving the keys of the offense to Malik Willis, who the Titans traded to the Packers right before the season.

Guess who looked better?

The guy the Titans labeled as a “third-string quarterback” unworthy of a roster spot.

Willis ran rampant over the Titans, showcasing the skills of the dual-threat quarterback the Titans thought they drafted.

For Titans fans, watching Levis’ performance as Willis had full control of the Packers offense had to be painful, especially with the Titans down 20-7 at halftime.

Levis threw two interceptions –– including one for a Packers touchdown –– and fumbled the ball on a Packers sack.

I can’t entirely blame Levis because his offensive line seemed to want to be anywhere else but Nissan Stadium, allowing eight sacks.

But I also have to recognize that Levis doesn’t look like the answer the Titans thought he would be.

He currently leads the league with eight turnovers in three games, including five interceptions and three fumbles.

His quarterback rating is 28.2, good enough for 29th in the league.

The only two quarterbacks with a worse rating are Bryce Young –– who the Panthers recently benched –– and Deshaun Watson –– who looks incapable of throwing a ball more than five yards.

How much more can head coach Brian Callahan take before he replaces Levis with backup Mason Rudolph?

With a Monday night matchup in week four against the Dolphins, which are having their own struggles right now, this may be Levis’ last chance to prove himself to his coach and Titans fans.

If he looks like the Levis we’ve seen these past few weeks, the Titans may have a new quarterback coming off the week-five bye.
