Tickets available for concert hall opening, Symphony concert

Belmont’s College of Visual and Performing Arts is giving away tickets for the opening gala for the new concert hall at Belmont Heights Baptist Church and a concert by the Nashville Symphony at the hall weeks later.

The tickets for the two October events are available for free, and CVPA spokesperson Sarah Davis said demand for both concerts was higher than expected since tickets were made available Monday.

“We fully expect to fill the hall,” she said.

The former Belmont Heights Baptist Church sanctuary has been redone to become a classical concert venue since plans for the renovations were announced in 2010.

The first event at the concert hall will be an opening gala on Saturday, Oct. 6 where multiple ensembles and student groups will perform.

On Thursday, Oct. 6, the full Nashville Symphony will perform at the facility under the direction of Associate Conductor Kelly Corcoran,.

Having the full Symphony perform at the renovated concert hall was a major addition for the auditorium’s Inaugural Season, Davis said.

“We thought it would be wonderful to have a local group to come in,” she said. “Our first ask for to the symphony. We are thrilled they are able to come and perform at the new hall for Belmont students and the Nashville community.

Both concerts are set to be part of the renovated facility’s Inagural Season. It will also and four other major performances, including Christmas at Belmont and the President’s Concert. Convocation and MUG 2000 credits will be given to students with tickets at the event.
