Track and Field Competes in Tennessee Invite

Five Bruins from the men’s and women’s track and field team took to the University of Tennessee’s Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on Friday and Saturday to participate in the Tennessee Invite.
Senior Sophia Harvey competed in the 800-meter, and sophomore Carlota Salgado Garcia participated in the 100-meter hurdle and long jump.
Harvey placed fourth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:13.11.
Garcia placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 14.44 seconds, but did not finish in the finals. She placed 25th in the long jump with a mark of 5.27 meters.
Sophomore Tezz Dozier of the men’s team competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter, and sophomores Austin Belle and Jayce Gray competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter.
Dozier placed 22nd in the 200-meter with a time of 21.76 seconds, and 26th in the 400-meter with a time of 50.38 seconds.
Belle placed 20th in the 100-meter with a time of 10.64 seconds and took home 13th in the 200-meter with a time of 21.34 seconds.
Gray placed 46th in the 100-meter and 52nd in the 200-meter.
The Bruins will travel to the University of South Florida in Tampa to compete in the South Florida Invitational on April 11.
