Belmont track and field raced at the Indoor Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt University Friday and Saturday. 

 

In the women’s 800-meter, sophomore Alexa Fortman fought for a tight lead during heat two. 

 

Fortman finished second in the heat, breaking her own school record with a time of 2 minutes, 9.5 seconds. She placed fourth overall. 

 

In the 3000-meter, sophomore Rachel Soukup also set a school record of 9:27.13. She finished fifth in the event.

On the men’s side, senior Matty Mackay had the lone top-10 finish for the Bruins. He placed ninth in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:17.86. 

 

Graduate student Aidan Dinsbeer took home 11th place in pole vault, clearing 4.60 meters.  




The Bruins will run in Chicago for the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships on March 2-3.
