Belmont Athletics confirms Ezell’s resignation, noting a national search for Ezell’s successor will begin immediately.
“I want to thank Brittney for her service to Belmont University,” Belmont University Director of Athletics Mike Strickland said. “Her contributions enabled us to transition into the OVC seamlessly. We wish Brittney well in the next phase of her career.”

In an announcement from ETSUBucs.com, ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland is seeking approval from the Tennessee Board of Regents to hire Ezell as their next head coach upon the recommendation of interim athletic director.
Upon the TBR’s approval, ETSU has scheduled an introductory press conference on Friday at noon.
“We were looking for someone who had played at the highest levels, understood what it takes to win championships, and had extensive collegiate coaching experience,” ETSU athletic director Dr. Richard Sander said. “Brittney possesses all of these qualities. She has the dedication and passion to take our program to a championship level and back to the NCAA Tournament.”

After just three seasons at the helm of the women’s basketball team, coach Brittney Ezell has resigned to take the head coaching position at former in state rival East Tennessee State University, according to a report from The Tennessean.
Both Ezell and Belmont athletic director Mike Strickland declined comment.
As only the third head coach in program history, Ezell’s career record at Belmont was 41-52.
Her move to ETSU will become her fourth head coaching job after coaching at Northwest Florida State College (2005-08) and Montevallo (2008-10). She will be replacing Karen Kemp, who is retiring after 19 years at ETSU.
