Student-run business Where The Well Things Are will be closing in April after four years on Belmont Boulevard.
“Every few years we close it and switch it out because as a college campus, every four years we have a completely different student body,” Elizabeth Gortmaker, executive director of the Thomas F. Cone Sr. Center for Entrepreneurship said.
The space is overseen by Belmont’s entrepreneurship center and students pitch a business idea to run in the spaces provided by the school on Belmont Boulevard. The purpose of the stores is to provide a trial experience for those interested in running a business.
“It was deciding for a change of pace, something that might be more aligned with the student demographics,” student manager Grace Dyer said.
Where the Well Things Are is focused on holistic wellness, selling products for the mind, body and soul.
“There’s elements of all that, we have products of like healthy and nutritional bars, herbal remedies for tea, body care, and books for the spiritual aspect of things,” Dyer said.
The store opened in 2021 in the same complex as Chick-Fil-A, Nativo and House Of.
Carrying 39 brands, the store’s primary focus was on building local business connections and relationships with nearby vendors.
To prepare for their closing, all items are currently 50% off and will gradually be discounted until its last day.
On April 12, Where the Well Things Are will close its doors for the last time.
Renovations will take place to transform the space into a new store and the entrepreneurial center is expected to announce what it will be in the fall semester.
“I think overall, it will be an exciting new addition and unique experience,” Dyer said.
