Belmont women’s basketball defeated Valparaiso 69-41 on Friday night.
The win marks the Bruins’ ninth straight victory and maintains their Missouri Conference Valley supremacy.
Kendal Cheesman finished with a double-double, leading all players in points and rebounds with 21 and 11.
The Bruins’ 69 points were a far cry from the 91.3 they had averaged in their previous three games, but they still won by 28 points which tied their largest margin of victory on the season.
Belmont remains undefeated against Valparaiso, improving to 5-0 all-time since the two teams first met in 2022.
Sanaa Tripp scored a career-high 13 points off the bench, shooting 60 percent from the three-point line.
Belmont’s defense forced 21 turnovers and held each individual Beacon to under 10 points. Valparaiso shot just 26.9 percent from the field and 16 percent from the three-point line.
Kendall Holmes’ 11 points brings her career total to 999.
Holmes will look to break the 1,000-point mark as well as extend the Bruins’ winning streak to 10 games Sunday on the road against the University of Illinois Chicago.
